Privacy policy
In plain words: what we collect when you ask for a price, what we do with it and what your rights are. Last updated: October 6, 2026.
Who is responsible for your information
This is the website of M. Chauffe-Eau GL, which sells, installs and repairs electric hot water tanks. Its legal name is Monsieur Chauffe-Eau GL Inc.
In Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector gives this responsibility to the person with the highest authority in the company, who may delegate it in writing. Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is:
- Name: Giovanni Del Santo
- Title: co-owner
- How to reach him: info@mchauffeeaugl.ca
What the quote form collects
When you ask for a price on the quote page or with the questionnaire on our pages, we ask for:
- your name;
- your phone number;
- your email, if you choose to give it;
- your postal code;
- your tank's size and approximate age, the type of home and how many people live there, if you want to say;
- photos of the rating plate, the tank and the space around it;
- whether it's urgent, such as a leak or no hot water;
- for a building or a business, the company name and the number of tanks;
- the language you want us to reply in, and whether you prefer a call or a text;
- a message, if you want to add one.
Your photos
Frame the hot water tank and the space around it. Avoid photographing people, documents or anything that doesn't need to be seen.
By phone, text or email
If you call, text or write to us, we also receive what you send: your number, your messages and your photos. This information is used for the same purposes as the form's.
In your browser
The questionnaire keeps your answers in your browser during your visit, so you don't lose them if the page reloads. They only reach us when you click Send, and they're erased when you close the tab.
Why we collect it
We use your information for the purposes below. For any other purpose, we will ask for your consent, except where the law allows otherwise.
- to prepare your price from your photos;
- to reach you, in the language you choose;
- to know which area we're heading to, from your postal code;
- to handle urgent requests first;
- to schedule and do the work, if you accept the price.
Where it's kept and who handles it
Requests sent through the form or the questionnaire reach us by email, photos included, in the info@mchauffeeaugl.ca inbox. Only the people at the company who prepare prices and plan the work can see them.
Our providers are Vercel, which hosts this website and passes your request on without keeping its content, Google (Google Workspace), which hosts our email, and our phone provider, for calls and texts. Their servers may be located outside Quebec, including in the United States.
Before personal information is communicated outside Quebec, the law requires a company to first assess whether it will be adequately protected there.
How long we keep it
We keep price requests and their photos for 2 years after our last exchange, then destroy them. Job records and invoices are kept for 6 years, as tax rules require.
Once the purposes for which your information was collected are achieved, it is destroyed or anonymized, subject to any retention period a law requires, for example for invoices.
Your rights
At any time, you can:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and get access to it;
- have inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal information corrected;
- have information deleted if its collection, communication or retention isn't authorized by law;
- withdraw your consent to a use of your information;
- get your computerized information in a structured, commonly used technological format;
- ask us to stop disseminating information about you if its dissemination causes you serious harm.
How to do it
Write to the person in charge of the protection of personal information, whose contact details are above. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We have to answer within 30 days. Access is free in principle; transcription, reproduction or transmission costs may be charged, and we will tell you the amount beforehand.
If you're not satisfied
If we refuse your request, or don't answer within 30 days, you can turn to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. You can also file a complaint there if you believe we haven't met our obligations: cai.gouv.qc.ca.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies. To see which pages are useful, we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, doesn't identify you and only produces anonymous totals: pages viewed, country, type of device. So there's nothing to turn off.
If a tool on this site can identify you, locate you or build a profile of you, the law requires us to tell you and to keep that function turned off until you turn it on yourself.
Security and incidents
We protect your information with measures suited to how sensitive it is: the website and the form are encrypted (HTTPS), our email is protected by Google's 2-Step Verification, and access is limited to the people who need it to do the work.
If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious harm, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned, as the law requires.
Contact us
For a question about this policy or your information, write to Giovanni Del Santo, the person in charge of the protection of personal information: info@mchauffeeaugl.ca. Our other contact details are on the quote page.
